A SENSATIONAL INCIDENT. Received June 14, 4.15 p.m. SYDNEY, June 14. The Mokoia's lengthy passage was due to heavy westerly weather. On the second day out a most sensational incident occurred. A steerage passenger name? Conway was seen to go overboard, and a boat was immediately lowered. The vessel hove to for three hours while a search was made. The man was eventually found, but on reaching the vessel it was found that life was extinct. The body was buried next morning. RACEHORSES FATALLY INJURED. Received June 15, 12.45 a.m. MELBOURNE, June 14. The horses Conde and Penguin received fatal injuries in the Caulfield Steeplechase yesterday. SAN FRANCISCO STEAM SERVICE. SYDNEY, June 13. Advice has been received that the new steamship line between Sydney and San Francisco, which took the place of the Oceanic Company, intends to increase its fleet from five to ten. ANOTHER CENTENARIAN. SYDNEY, June 13. William Shaw has died at Glebe, a suburb of Sydney, at the age of 103 years. HEAVY SNOWFALL. SYDNEY, June 13. Heavy snowfalls in the Kiandra district, about 316 miles south west Sydney, have blocked all vehicular traffic.
