HEADMASTER'S REPORT.
The monthly report of the Headmaster of the Mastcrton District High School W. H. Jackson) received at the meeting of the School Committee last evening, stated inter alia:— Average Percent.
The attendance for the month has been good in all three departments. The accompanying absentee report contains only six names. The Board's Truant Officer is dealing with the three worst cases. Staff. —The second assistant master returned to his duties on the Ist inst., after a month's leave of absence on account of illness. The first assistant mistress wa3 absent on the 10th inst., through illness. Secondary Classes. —The roll number in the secondary department is lower than usual at the present time. This ia entirely due to the successes of the pupils in the recent examinations. During the term ju.t ended seven left lo enter Victoria College, three were appointed to pupilteachaohips on our staff, and three were offered and accepted Civil Service cadjfc-shipa. There are 76 pupils in the sixth standard, from which chss there will be a large addition to the roll of the secondary department, after the annual examination. The additional room for that department is therefore a matter of urgency.
