LONDON WOOL SALES.

Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Wellington, have received the following cable message from their London office, dated the 29th May:—The wool sales closed firm and active with brisk competition. Merino wools—Prices are, on the average, at par to 5 per cent, lower than closing rates of March series. Fine crossbreds 5 per cent, lower. Medium and coarse cross bred wool?, wools in light condition, and those suitable for America, are on the average 10 to 15 per cent, higher than closing rates of last series. Other descriptions are high er by sto 10 per cent. Out of the net quantity available for sale (264,000 bales) 87,000 bales have been sold for Home consumption, 51,000 bales for the Continent, 6,000 bales for America, leaving 102,000 bales to be carried forward to the next series, of which 115,000 bales were not offered for sale. Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd., have received the following cable from their London agents, the National Mortgage and Agency Company of Mew Zealand, Ltd., dated London May 29th, 1908:—"The May sales have closed. Merinos and fine crossbreds closed at an advance of 2J per cent, on opening rates, and medium crossbreds suitable for America show an advance of 20 per cent. Medium crossbreds closed at an advance of 12J per cent., and coarse crossbreds at an advance of 17J per cent.
