EXPENDITURE BY LOCAL BODIES.
AUCKLAND, May 28. The Premier has intimated to the Mayor and Chairman of the Harbour Board that he is prepared to introduce a Bill legalising the expenditure by local bodies of such sums as they deem fit to expend in connection with celebrations to welcome the American Fleet. The Mayor is convening a meeting of representatives of local bodies to decide on a basis of contributions.
