TRUST LANDS TRUST ELECTION.

CANDIDATES AT KURIPUNI. There was a very small attendance at Mr H. C. Robinson's meeting at the Kuripuni Hall last evening. Mr Wingate presided. Mr Robinson's address was on similar lines to that which he delivered in Masterton last week. Mr Robinson opened his remarks by saying that "he could not make an omelet without breaking eggs,'' and if he criticised the Trust severely he hoped they would take his criticism kindiy. He referred to the failure of the Trust to obtain all the income possible and spend it for the benefit of the children of the district. He urged that their main duty was first to obtain as much money as possible, and secondly to spend it year by year in the interest of the boys and girls growing up. He apologised for not being able to deal with the present financial position of the Trust, owing to this year's balance-sheet not having been audited and published. He stated that Mr Pragnell would have been present and addressed the meeting, but for being called away to Wellington on urgent buisness. Mr J. Hessey was present, and at the conclusion of Mr Robinson's speech addressed the meeting. The speaker defended the Trust in reference to Mr RSbinson's remarks regarding the administration of the Trust and its want of proper support to etucar.ior. Ife safd a lot of minsy had been spe it by the Trust for educational purposes. He instanced the subsidy of the Trust towards the erection of the Technical School, and also the land that had been provided, upon which the building had been erected, in suppoit of his contention. One or two questions were asked Mr Robinson and answered by the candidate to the satisfaction of the questioners, and the meeting terminated with a vote of thanks to Messrs Robinson and Hcssey and the Chairman.
