VEHEMENT OPPOSITION IN
NATAL

Vehement opposition to unification as a form of closer union in South Africa has arisen in Natal, where the Pretoria Conference is accused of shamelessly attempting to rush the question. The "Natal Mercury" declares that Natal is able to stand alone, and refuses to be coerced.
NATIONAL CONVENTION ARRANGED. Received May 12, 12.5 a.m. PRETORIA, May 11. The International Conference, which is being held here, has arranged a national convention to deal with the question of union It will consist of twelve delegates from Cape Colony, eight from Transvaal, and live each from Natal and Orangia.
