AN INNOCENT PERSON ARRESTED. Received May 11, 8.20 a.m. NEW YORK, May 10. The police at Syracuse, New York State, arrested a lady in a train bound for N.w York, alleging that she was Mrs Guinness. She, however, was the widow of a well-lu/own Chicago gentleman, and was released on proving her identity.
After a fire on a farm at La Porte, Indiana, four bodies which were then believed to be those of the occupier, Mrs Belle Guinness,and her children, were discovered in an incinerated state. A farm hand named Lamphere and a young girl have been arrested in connection with the murders. Fifteen bodies have since been found buried near by. The police now believe that Mrs Guinness escaped to Chicago. The corpses are believed to include applicants who were lured into the house in response to Mrb Guinness' matrimonial agency advertisements. The applicants were robbed and murdered, and their life insurance money was collected.
