CONSPIRACY.
HEAVY DAMAGES AWARDED. Received May 5, 8.10 a.m. LONDON, May 4. After a hearing lasting thirtythree clays, and involving legal expenses amounting to £70,000, the King's Bench Division has awarded Mr Isidore Wyler and the lbo and Nyassa land Corporation £62,472 damages against Messrs Lewis and Marks and other members of the corporation, except Sir Robert Edgecumbe, for conpsiiacy, causing the loss of concessions estimated to be worth a quarter of a million. Mr Weatherly, another memler of the corporation, was earlier disn.issed from the case. An appeal has been enteied. The plaintiffs in this case were Mr Wyler and the lbo and Nyasaa Corporation (Limited), the defend ants being Mr Isaac Lewis, Sir Robert Elgecumbf, Mr Join Si-ear, Mr Charles Frecerick Kowsell, Mr Chares H. Weatherley, and the am of Messrs Lewis and Marks. Ihe allegation of the plaintiffs was that they had the benefit £of valuable contracts with the Portuguese Government through conspiracy oi/the part of the defendants. The defendants denied this.
