THE AMERICAN PRESIDENCY.
SOME TALL TALK. Received May 5, 8.42 a.m. NEW YORK, May 4. Mr Johnson, Governor of Minnesota, one of the Democratic candidates for the presidency, declares that Americans must obliterate the imaginary line between the United Scates and the Canadian States. Tnis spread-eagleism meets with small response, except in Minnesota, Michigan, and Dakota.
Governor Hughes, Governor of the State of New York., and Mr W. H. Taft, Secretary tor War, arc the two Rapublican candidates with serious chances for the Presidency. Mr Taft has the support of President Roosevelt, but (says a New York paper) ttiough the latter's policy is
endorsed by the convention they will support the lecal candidate. The objection raised by many Republicans to Mr Taft is that he is eumplately under the domination of the President. ■
