VALUERS' FEES.
A POINT RAISED IN AUCKLAND. "It seems strange," said Mr C. C. Kettle, S.M., at Auckland on Monday, at the conclusion of a case in which one of the pionts for decision was the amount a land valuer was entitled to by way of fee for valuing property, "that an important court of this kind in a.centre like Auckland should be called upon to' decide such a matter, but until the Chamber of Commerce takes upon itself the burdan of preparing a satisfactory scale of commercial charges, as is done in Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin, the time of this court will ba thus occupied." He hoped the chambar would deal with the matter. Mr Earl, who was engaged upon the case, said that a recommendation to the effect of his Worship's remarks could hardly come from the Law Society. The Law Society could not tell the chamber to put its house in order, when the society's own house was not, in that happy state. There was a scale of charges fixed for Auckand, but they had been unable to agree upon a scale for the whole dominion.
