A NARROW ESCAPE.
GISBORNE, May 2. An elderly couple named Thompson had a narrow escape from death by burning at Te Karalca. Their residence was discovered on fire by Constable Doyle and two neighbours, who rushed in and brought out Heni Thompson. She is blind. Her husband was found lying on his back on tha floor near the bed almost suffocated.
