The New Zealand football team defeated the Northern Districts team by 87 points to 8. The New Zealanders gave a fine exhibition of the new football game of thirteen aside, and treated the local men leniently in winning by 37 to 8. Rowe secured four tries, Dunning, Meanenger, Tyler, and Tyne one each. Messenger kicked four goab and Turtill one goal. For Newcastle Bailey and Lawson scored a try each, and Bailey kicked a goal from a mark.
