WEDDING.
RACTLIFFE—JAMES. A wedding in which considerable interest was centred took place at the residence of Mrs James, Woodlands, on Thursday, when Mr F. E. J. Ractliffe, nephew of Mr A. W. Cave, of Te Ore Ore, and manager for many years of the latter's estate, was married to Miss W. R. James, third daughter of the late Mr Henry James, of Woodlands. The Rev. A. T. Thompson was the officiating clergyman. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr J. M. James, was attired in a handsome white crepe-de-chine, with veP and orange blossoms, and carried a beautiful bouquet. Misses Lilian and Isabel James, sisters of the bride, were the bridesmaids, and each wore white embroidered muslin and carried a bouquet. The best man was Mr W. A. lorns, and Mr W. James acted as groomsman. The wedding breakfast was subsequently partaken of in a marquee, and was attended by a large number of guests from various parts of the district. The popularity of the couple was demonstrated by the large number of useful and costly presents received. These included a silver - mounted hair brush and mirror from the scholars of the Wangaehu Sunday schcol, with which the bride has been connected for some time. The newly-wedded couple left Masterton by the afternoon train for Napier, en route to Auckland, on their honeymoon tour. The bride's travelling dress was a navy blue costume with a white hat.
