Received April 13, 9.25 a.m. LONDON, April 12. Rayner, the murderer of William Whiteley, "the Universal Provider," again attempted suicide in prison. (Rayner murdered Mr William Whiteley in January last year. Immediately after the murder he attempted suicide by shooting himself in the head. He was convicted of murder, and was sentenced to death, but a petition was got up and he was reprieved). BERLIN, Anril 12. The Kaiser refused permission to erect a statue to Professor Virchow. Residents of Berlin are greatly annoyed. (The late Professor Virchow was born in 1821 and died in Berlin in 1902. He was a celebi-ated'Gei-man anatomest, physiologist and anttirj-polog-st.)
