RESTRICTING ALIEN IMMIGRATION.
A CANADIAN BILL. Received April 12, 4.30 p.m. OTTAWA, April 11. "lie Canadian Parliament has passed the Alien Immigration Restriction Bill. An amendment to exempt those having served in the British Army and navy was rejected. The Royal assent has been given to the measure. a A cablegram from Ottawa on March 26th stated that owing to the decision of Mr Justice Clements — that the Order-in-Council of January Bth, prescribing the new immigration regulations, is illegal on technical grounds—a Bill was being rushed through the Dominion Parliament to admit only immigrants corning direct from the land of their birth.
