METEOROLOGICAL.

At 9 a.m. yesterday Captain Edwin issued the following forecast for the subsequent 24 hours: — Wind. —Westerly, moderate to strong at all places northward of East Cape, Taupo, and Kawhia; strong to age from same direction after 12 to 16 hours at all other places. Barometer. Little movement northward of East Cape, Taupo, and Kawhia; fall everywhere else. Rain is probable in the South Island and after 16 hours in the North Island southward of Napier and New Plymouth. r Warning signal for northerly gale is exhibited at Capes Campbell, Foulwind, and Farewell Spit, and for westerly gale at Nugget Point, and will be shown at East Cape after sunrise.

Mr J, C. Boddington reports that two points of rain fell on the Upper Plain during the twenty-four hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday. Rain fell on the Upper Plain on 17 days in March. The maximum fall was 1.40 inches registered on 21st; the minimum two points on 7th and 31st. The total for the month was 6.39 inches, as against 4.97 inches, 4.11 inchss, 3.92 inches, 8.10 inches in March 1904, 1905, 1906 and 1907 respectively. The total for three months was 7.20 inches, as against 8.81 inches, 6.57 inches, 11.65 inches and 16.87 inches for the corresponding period of 1904, 1905, 1906 and 1907.
