CHALLENGE TO A DUEL. Received March 17, 12.27 a.m. ST. PETERSBURG, March 16. Owing to General Smirnoff, during the trial of General Stoessel and other officers in connection with the surrendering of Port Arthur, making statements reflecting on General Fock'a honour, the latter challenged him to a duel with pistols at fifteen paces. General Smirnoff refused to accede to the request unless his military superiors ordered him to do so.
