WELLINGTON WOOL AND SKIN SALES.
Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd., report as follows regarding Friday's sale:— We offered a small quantity of wool in bales and bags, 1,000 skins, 600 hides, and a quantity of tallow and horsehair. Wool—Market weak and depressed. We quote—Medium crossbred 4jd to sd, inferior 3d to 4d, lambs wool 4Jd to s&d, pieces 2Jd to 3Jd, locks Id"to 2d. Skins—Market lower again in sympathy with London quotations. We quote—Fine crossbreds 5d to 5Jd, dead skins 3d to 3Jd, medium crossbred 3Jd to 4Jd, dead" hoggets 2&d to 3&d, dry pelts 2d to 3Jd, lamb skins 4d to 4|d, green pelts Is 8d to 2s 7d, green lambs (woolly) Is 8d to 2s 7d, green lamb pelts Is to 3 s 6d. Tallow—Weaker. Parcels in shipping order £23 10s. Tins £ls to £l9. Rough fat £l3 to £ls 10s. Horsehair. Is to Is 3d per lb. Horns, 5s to 17a 6d per hundred. Cowtails, Is per dozen. HidesMarket easier all round; heavies and medium suffering to the extent of Jd; lights a halfpenny lower. We quote—Ox hides*, heavy, 6d to 6Jd, ox hides, medium, 5d to s§d, ox hides, light, 4d to 4Jd, cow hides 4d to 4Jd, cut and slippy hides 2d to 3Jd, stag hides 2Jd to 3Jd, bull hides 2d to 3d, calf, best, 4d to 4Jd, calf, cut and slippy, 2d to 3d. Our next sale will be held on Friday, 27th March, 1908. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report:—We held our fortnightly sale of wool, skins, hides and tallow on Friday. Only a few oddments and inferior lots of wool were offering, and the market showed a decline on February rates in sympathy with London. In sheepskins no good lines were submitted, and prices v/ere easier from Jd to |d. Hides showed a decline of about f d per lb, no prime lots being offered. We quote as follows:—Wool bales, merino 6d, crossbred 4Jd to sd, lambs 4d to s|d; in bags, crossbred 3|d to 42d, dea% 3Jd to 4|d. Sheepskins—Crossbred 4£d to sd, short 3d to 4d, pelts 3£d, lambs 4£d to 4Jd, lamb pelts 3Jd, crossbred, dead, 4d. Hides-Ox, 601b to 631b, SJdto sgd, 49lbs 4fd; cows, 431b to 541b, 4|d to 4Jd; calf, 51b to 81b, • 2|d to 3fd. Tallow—ln casks, 21s 3d to 23s 3d; inferior 14s 3d; in tins, 20s to 20s 9d. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency C 0.," Ltd., report as follows: —At Friday's sale we offered about 50 bales and 14 bags of wool, about 800 skins, and a small quantity of hides. Cable advices indicate a likelihood of a drop at forthcoming Lon- . Uon .wool sales, and. at the skin sale just held there was a drop of Jd to ljdperlb. Part of this was anticipated by buyers at last local sales, and at to-day's sale we have toreport a decline on last sales of Jd to Jd Per lb in wool and skins. We quote:—Wool Medium crossbred 4sd to s£d, inferior and bush stained'3*d to 4|d, crutchings IJd to 2gd, lambs, medium, to 62<1, lambs, inferior and seedy, Jd to 2Jd. Sheepskins—Fine crossbred and halfbred, none offered, coarse and medium crossbred 3Jd to s£d, dead and damaged 2d to 4d, broken and seedy Id to lfd, dry pelts, sound, 3d to 3£d, dry pelts, damaged, Id to Ljd, green pelts Is to Is c Jd, «reen lambs Is to 2s 2d, damaged pslts Id to 9d. Hides—Only inferior lots were offered.
