POLLARD'S OPERA COMPANY.
Pollard's Opera Company will open a season of two nights in the Masterton Town Hall on Monday next. On the first night, "Bluebell in Fairyland" will be staged. Of this piece a contemporary says:— "It provides an excellent comic part for Master Bertie Nicholson, the marvellous boy comedian. Miss Minnie Topping (Bluebell) and her confreres have all suitable parts. The cast is singular, inasmuch as it provides parts for two old Pollardians, who were always popular in New Zealand. We refer to Mr Charles Albert (the original Insect in "Paul Jones,") and Mr Harry Quealv (the waiter in the "The French Maid," Major Forsdyke in "Gay Parisienne," etc). The scenery and dresses are gorgeous, and the ballets, arranged by Mrs Harry Quealey, brilliant and original. The piece is magnificently produced by that king of stage managers, Mr Tom Pollard, whose work is so well known as to need no comment."
