A MAURICEVILLE FATALITY.

MAN BURNT TO DEATH

Word was received by the police from Mauriceville, late last night, that a man named Walter Mortison, aged about thirty years, had been burnt to death in his residence at that town, about 10 p.m., yesterday. Mortison had been to the Masterton 'Show, yesterday, and went home with his wife and family by the evening train. The house, by some means at present unascertainable, caught fire, and Mortison was burnt to death. His wife and family escaped uninjured. No other particulars were available last night. A constable will be despatched from Masterton this morning to make enquiries into the matter.
