SALE OF TOCKER'S ESTATE.

Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd , report having held a most successful sale of the above estate on Saturlay, Ist instant, in the Foresters' Hall, Mastertorj. The hall was well filled with a representative gathering of settlers from all parts of the district, and a keen interest was manifested in the sale throughout. It was evident, after the first section was submitted, that excellent competition was likely to rule for all lots to be offered, and Lower Valley settlers especially seemed to have made up their minds that the [chance before them of securing really good farms in a thriving and prosperous district was one to take advantage of. It had been thought tha*: bidding might be slow and competition restricted owing to the fali in price of wool and present dry weather. However, such a thought was immediately dispelled after the first section came under the hammer, and evidently Lower Valley settlers are satisfied that the dry weather mu3t soon break and the wool and stock jnarkets soon right themselves again. In all 1,629 acres were offered, divided into eleven lots, ranging fiom nine to 546 acres. Bidding all through was spirited, and especially keen competition was elicited for lot 6, comprising acres; bidding for this section started at £ls, and quickly ran up to'£l9,from then one shilling bids saw £2O reached and at this price the lot was eventually sold. Only two sections failed to find buyers under the hammer, but immediately after the sale they were disposed of by private treaty. The 1,629 acres averaged £l7 Is 3d per acre, and hereunder they give full details of sales effected: — Price per ■ Acres, acre. Buyer's name.
