COMING ENTERTAINMENTS.
*- "A TRIP TO CHINATOWN." To-night at the Town Hall the Howard Vernon Musical Comedy Company will commence a two nights' season, when "A Trip to Chinatown" will be presented. The"Wanganui Chronicle," in reporting a recent performance, says:—"lt may safely be averred with regard to the leading light of ihe company at present occupying the boards at the Opera House —Mr Howard Vernon—that 'age cannot wither nor custom stale his infinite variety.' Mr Vernon has not only been before the theatre-going public for a considerable number of years in various guises as an operatic comedian, creating leading parts in some of Gilbert and Sullivan's most brilliant productions (under Mr J. C. Williamson's regime), but also filled with credit the responsible role of stage manager. The compact company he has now brought amongst us tends to show that in catering for the public he thoroughly understands what the necessities are to arouse enthusiasm and keep an audience amused." "BREWSTER'S MILLIONS." On Wednesday next Mr J. C. Williamson's new Comedy Company will produce "Brewster's Millions," in the Town Hali, Masterton. The record of this mirth-provoking play is worthy of note, having been one of continuous success. In New York it ran for over ten months to record' lts presentation at the Hick's Theatre, London, was one of the most important events of the theatrical reason. Under Mr Williamson's regime, ' Brewster's Millions" proved a great draw in Sydney, and judging from the results of the Dunedin,.Christchurch, and Auckland seasons, its success is likely to be repeated throughout the dominion. Mr Thomas Kingston and Mrs Robert Brough are members of the company. The two stars are well supported by such capable artists as Messrs Cyril Mackay, J. B. Atholwood, Gregan McMahon, Vivian Edwards, T. W. Lloyd, Lawrence Hardenge, C. R. Berkeley, Misses Helen Ferguson, Nellie Calvin, Irby Marshall, Edith Lewis, and others. The box plan will be opened at Miss Rive':- on Saturday morning.
