EMPLOYEES' ASSOCIATION AND FARMERS' UNION.
THE PROPOSED AFFILIATION
The proposal which has come from the Employers' Association for affiliation with the Farmers' Union does not meet with the general approval of the Union. 'lt has, says the "Farmers' Union Advocate," rightly been pointed out that in several respects the aims of the two bodies are not identical. For instance, the Farmers' Union admits farm employees as members, whilst with the Employers' Association this is obviously impossible. There is no reason, however, why the two bodies should not work amicably together, and that when questions affecting the whole are involved joint action should not bo taken. We are, we feel sure, expressing the opinion, not only of the executive, but of the whole of the members of the Farmers' Union, when we say that any assistance rendered in the farm labourers and shearers disputes, now before the country, will be- gratefully acknowledged. Moreover, the Farmers' Union is willing to reciprocate should occasion arise.
