MURDER OF A MISSIONARY.
CHINA WILL PAY COMPENSATION. Received January] 8, 9 a.m. PEKIN, January' 7. The Viceroy of Canton has agreed to pay £8,500 to settle British claims for the attack on the steamer Sainam and the murder of a missionary, in July, 1906. (Chinese pirates attacked the steamer Sainam fifty miles from Etuchon, killed the Rev. Dr. McDonald, a missionary, and seriously wounded the captain and chief engineer of the Sainam.)
