WAIRARAPA AMATEUR SWIMMING CLUB.
A general meeting of members of the Wairarapa Amateur Swimming Club was held last evening. Mr J. C. Ewington occupied the chair. A letter was received from the Wellington Centre of the New Zealand Swimming Association offering assistance at the approaching carnival. ' . . . , It was decided to recommend the programme committee of the Aquatic Carnival to substitute a long dive for the greasy pole event at. the carnival. The question of extending the hours of bathing in the lake came up for discussion, and it was finally decided to refer the matter to the Borough Council at its meeting this evening A deputation, consisting of Messrs E. Richards, R. V. Hosking, and W. G. ■Taylor, was appointed to bring the subject forward. It was decided to accept ladies as members of the club for the present, and when there are sufficient lady ( members to allow them to form their own committee, etc. It was further decided to present all all trophies won by members of the club at a social to be held at the end of the season. Mr R. V. Hosking was elected as treasurer, vice Mr S. R. Edwards resigned. About twelve new members were elected.
