VICTORIA PROSPEROUS. GREAT EXPECTATIONS. MELBOURNE, January 4. The Victorian Premier, the Hon. T. Bent, states that the half-year ended with a surplus of £260,000. He expects that the surplus at the end of the financial year will be nearly a million. NEW SOUTH WALES HARVEST. ESTIMATED WHEAT YIELD. SYDNEY, January 4. The Herald estimates the wheat yield at 8,682,000 bushels, an average of a little over five bushels to the acre.
PLAGUE. ANOTHER CASE NEAR SYDNEY. SYDNEY, January 4. A dairyman at Hurstvi'le, nine miles from Sydney, has been attacked by plague. The case has evident connection with the outbreak at Marrickvillle.
