Mess-s Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Wellington, have received the following cable messages from their London House, under date of the 19th inst: —Butter—Market firm. The Copenhagen official quotation is one kroner (about Is ljd) per cwt. higher. The total imports of butter into the United Kingdom, for week ending 14th inst, amounted to 66,000cwt, as compared with 78,000cwt for the corresponding week of 1906, showing a decrease of 12,000cwt. Finest, 118s; unsalted, 116s. Do not expect any important change in prices for the present. Frozen meat. Beef — Prices are easier. For lamb we quote as follows:—Melbourne, prime, 5d to s£d; secondary, 4d to 4fd; Adelaide, 3£d to sd; Western Australia, 3£d to 4fd. Australian mutton, heavy weights, over 501b—crossbred or merino wethers, F.A.Q., 2fd to 3d. New Zealand frozen meat, all descriptions—Prices are unchanged; secondary, stocks are very large and difficult of sale. Tallow—Prices are 6d lower. Next public sales of tallow will be held on January Bth. Leather. —The market is easier. BasilsPrices are lower by id per lb.
