METHODIST SUNDAY SCHOOL.

ANNIVERSARY SERVICES

The anniversary services m uuunection with the Masterton Methodist Sunday School, which were commencetl on Sunday, were concluded last evening, when there was a veiy large congregation present. Mr J. A. Donald, superintendent of the Sunday School, occupied the chair. The church was tastefully decorated, and the feature of the evening was the singing of a huge choir of children, who had been specially trained for the occasion by Mr S. H. Ralph. Mr Ralph also had charge of an orchestra, which played the incidental music. 1 The secretary's annual I showed that there were 2 ( JB scholars on the roll wit;-, an average attendance during the year of 184. the highest attendance 011 any one Sunday had been 227. and the lowest 125. The infant class had a membership ol 109, with an average attendance of 57, the highest attendance on any one Sunday having been 79, and the lowest IS. The staff compiised 14 teachers and four officers with an average attendance of 16. Dunng the year, the secretary, Mr A. E. Baker, had resigned, and the services of Mr and Mrs Morrison as teachers had been lost. The report m3ntioned that it would be necessary during the coming year to consider the question of building a separate room for the infant class. This was a matter that would be discussed at an early date by the trustees, school workers and other members of the congregation. The library now contained 60S volumes, and was subscribed to by 90 scholars, an average of 32 books being changed each Sunday. The Young Men's and Young Women's Bible Classes had increased their membership timing the year, and keen interest was being taken in the work by the members. The report was adopted. ■ The treasurer, Mr Hey hoe. , submitted the annual statement of accounts, showing that the year had commenced with a dr. balance of .~c : 2s 6d, and had ended with a dr, bal- ? ance of £4 ">s 9d. In the competition for bringing the largest number of new pupils to the school during the year. Gladys Church was awarded first prize and Olive Sutherland second prize in the competition for girls, and Gecrge Pember first prize in the boy's competition. c During the evening a number oi anthems were given by the choii.
