GREAT GATHERING AT PARIHAKA. ENORMOUS STORES OF FOOD ORDERED. By Telegraph—Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH, Nov. 19. Maoris are flocking to Parihaka in great numbers. Enormous quantities of provisions have also been ordered, sufficient to last hundreds of people fur several weeks. Tht telephone at Pungarehu is besieged all day by natives sending messages. Great excitement of a suppressed nature prevails at Parihaka. The Herald's representative says that what will happen when the feelings of the natives break bounds, as in all probability will happen before all the ceremony is over, will be awaited with great interest. ' Mr J. Jack, local agent of the Public Trustee, had the first interview with Te Whiti on Thursday, when matters of considerable importance concerning the natives were diseased, Te Whiti showing wonderful keenness and a masterly grasp of the subject. The prophet's son is a man more European in ideas, Jf he succeeds to his father's position, Parihaka will be run on much more modern lines.
