CARTERTON.
Froiii Our Own Correspondent. Tuesday. Broadway street will be opened shortly for traffic. The formation the footpaths and laying down of the kerbing has almost been completed. The rain that fell last night caused the rivers-in and around Carterton to rise considerably, and the low-lying portions of land are under water. This afternoon the weather turned colder and the sudden change will have a detrimental effect on newlyshorn sheep. At the Magistrate's Court, yesterday, a prohibition order was issued against a local resident. Charges against four persons for having neglected to notify the authorities that scarlet fever had broken out in their respective houses were adjourned.
