FACTORIES ACT AMENDMENT BILL.

A PROTEST FROM EMPLOYERS.

By Telegraph-Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH, November 12. A meeting of the New Plymouth Employers' Association, to-night, considered the new sub-clause inserted by the Minister for Labour in the Factories Act Amendment Bill, providing that where the number of hands employed in factories and shops combined is more than the number employed in a shop, the half-holiday under the Factories Act must be observed. It was pointed out that the inclusion of this clause would prevent a great majority of employers taking advantage of the optional clause in the Act, and meant a compulsory Saturday half-holiday for all hands employed in factories. It was decided to ask the Employers' Federation to endeavour to get this clause deleted and solicit the co-operation of the members for the district.
