Rose, Limited, Dannevirke, report as follows:—On Friday, in conjunction with other auctioneering firms of this town, we held our first sale in the Millar's Road saleyarcls. Considering the boisterous weather, theru was a large number of buyers present. Though we had a very large entry advertised, only about half the stock came forward, and although very annoying farmers couli not be blamed for keeping their stock at home on such an atrocious day. There was very keen competition for cattle, especially steers, and every line sold readily under the hammer at the following prices:— Sheep: Fat and forward ewes 17s. Cattle: Fat bullocks £7, forward bullocks £5 10s, 3-year-old steers £4 6s 6d to £4 17s, 2-year-old steers £3 8s 6d, 18-month steers £2 Bs, forward cows £3 15s to £3 17s 6d, cows at the drop £4 13s to £5. Pigs: sows in pig £2 3s 6d, porkers 16s, weaners 82 to Saturday 12th, Dannevirke l«Je sale: We had a good entry of over 50 horses, the majority of them being light draughts and again we had to face very bad weather; consequently we did not quit our usual number.
