. "TO! annual report of the Agricultural Department shows a very substantial increase in the weights and values of wool exported. In 1906 the export was 144,145,1961b5, valued at £6,028,093; in 1907 it reached 165,227,6281b5, valued at £7,529,188, or an increase of £1,501,095. "That the value is being maintained," says Mr Ritchie, "is of great moment to woolgrowers. The sales in the colony are increasing in importance, and those who have sold have had no great reason to the prices received." $ The number of bales of wool sold in New Zealand for the last three seasons and the average value per bale were:—l9o7, 170,149 bales, worth £ls 10s, a preliminary estimate. For 1906 196,713 bales, £l3 3s6Jd; and for<l9os, 165,711 bales, £l2 Is per bale. The export of wool from Australasia for the year ending 30th June, 1907, was 2*090,231 bales, an increase of 222,442 bales, establishing a record, the highest, J 894-5, being 1,959,811 bales.
