THE WILLOUGHBY AND WARD COMPANY.
Says a contemporary:—No farce manufactured of late years less deserves the name than "Mr Hopkinson." The subtle philosophy of the piece, the veiled satire the delicate innuendo which points so straightly to the more or less amiableweaknesses of the "smart set," as distinguished from the nouvcau riche, are brought out with great wealth. A notably strong character in the cast is that played by Mr Gerald Wykeham, who, as the Duke of Braceborough, is exactly the nonchalant aristocrat whose cynicism is hardly noticea' e under the veneer of exquisite manner. Miss Palotta as the Duchess is excellent, and Mr Hugh Ward is something more than a mere parvenu. His."Hopkinson" is a creation to be proud of. Seats can be reserved at Miss Rive's for the performance in Masterton on Wednesday evening.
