Hitherto the Commonwealth postal administration has paid various railway adminstrations £225,000 per annum for the conveyance of mails. x The Commissioners now demand an increase of £145,000. The Postal Department refuses to pay it. A conference will open to-morrow to endeavour to adjust the matter.
