THE LAND BILL.

WELLINGTON, October 14. ■ In the House this evening the Land Bill was resumed in Committee, at Clause 39 ("holder of a pasturage lease or license may cultivate a portion of his run"). Mr F. E. Flatman (Geraldine) succeeded in getting an amend rnent inserted so as to limit the area which a lessee may plough and sow in grass to 3,000 acres, and to remove the restriction of area in regard to the clearing, farming and sowing of grass on the surface. The clause was passed. The Committee are now on the clause relating to the depasturing of stock on Crown lands.
