STOCK MARKET.

Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report as follows:—We held our annual spring cattle sale yesterday at our Masterton yards. There was a good attendance, buyers being present from the whole of the Wairarapa, the Forty-mile Bush and Palmerston North district also being well represented. Owing to the lateness of scarcity of feed a number oE Myers were not too keen to do business. At the commencement the sale dragged somewhat, but after a few pens had been sold bidding became more animated, and thereai'Ur the tone of the sale was good, and mostly all the lines offered found new owners. Some nice quality cattle were offered. One line on account of Mr W. D. Watson, 54 3 and 4-year forward steers commanding special •attention. Keen competition was. elicited for these, and eventually Messrs Feist Bros., of Grey town, secured the Mne at £7 2s. Another good line offered was 80 nice cleanskinned 3-year . steers offered on account of .Mr H. Hume,- of Aohanga. We passed this line at auction, but immediately after the sale quitted the cattle by private treaty to/ MeMaster's Estate, Matawhero. Dairy sorts were not in demand, but dry cows and empty heifers had buyers, and good business was done in this class of cattle. ' We had a fair yarding of sheep, and most cf the lines offered found buyers. A line of 80 cusbb with 100 per cent lambs at foCt on account Mr W. D. Watson, topped the market and brought 28s 3d. The ewes were in good condition, and well clad; the lambs were also a nice even healthy lot. Hoggets met good competition and medium sorts dold up to 15s.
