CARTERTON.
(From Our Ow.i Correspondent.) Monday. A holiday fiom 11 o'clock in the forenoon will be observed here on Dominion Day. Mr H. Trot man, of Greytown, has secured the contract for the erection of the new police station here. Mr Angove, who some ten years ago resided in this town, is paying a visit to his friends. A wedding of considerable local interest will be celebrated here shortly. There is a scarcity of farm labour in the district at present, farmers having a difficulty in getting even casual hands. The pall-bearers at the funeral of the late Miss Lorna Berrill, which took place on Sunday last were Masters A. Dudson, L. Dudson, W. Dudson, Paul Dudson, S. Sievers and W. Sievers. The Rev. T. G. Hammond, of the Maori Mission, preached to a very large congregation at the Methodist Church, last evening. A collection was taken up in aid of the mission.
