Re<B£'ed September 23, 7.15 a.m. LONDON, September 22. New Zealand hemp—Weak. An August-September shipment brought £32 10s. Wheat —Two cargoes of Australian sold at 39s 3d and 39s 6d, respectively, and two at 40s. A fifth cargo, also 20,500 quarters of September-October-November shipment, fetched 42s 6d. Butter—Small quantities of new Victorian salted realised 112s; New South Wales, 110s. Cheese —New South Wales is selljt 1 ing at from 63s to 655; Canadian, 60s; New Zealand. 71s. Wool—Thr> Antwerp ?alcs closed with increased animation. Tuesday's prices were well maintained. Crossbreds regained some favour. Ten thousand nine hundred and fiftyseven bales of La Plata were offered, and 6,193 sold. Rabbits— Un-jhanged. The con- ■ sumption is increasing, but arrivals are fully equal to demands. Frozen mutton —Canterbury, heavy £fd, light and medium uncharged; beat North Island, 3|d; other sorts and New Zealand lamb unchanged. New Zealand beef —Ox fores 29-16 d; ox hinds, 3|d. River Plate sheep, unchang?d. River Plate heef —Ox fores, 2*d; ox hinds, 3§d. Hides —At the periodical sales, Australian were neglected, and were mostly withdrawn. Values were nominal. Queensland heavy ox brought 6Jd, light s|d, cow 5 9-lSd; Sydney heavy ox s|d, light ox and cow s|d. Leather was a shade easier. First Wellingtons 15Jd; basils irregular; fc first Wellingtons 20d.
