OPAKI QUOITS CLUB.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) v The second annual ball of the ■i Opaki Qgttts Club was held in Mr WyethjfflHed on Friday night, and passed off most successfully, despite the fact that the weather was rather boisterous. About twenty-five couples were present. Mr Nicholson, captain ot the club, carried out the duties of M.C. in his usual capable maimer. The catering, which was in the hands of Mr Wilkes, of Masterton, was all that could be desired. During the supper adjournment, Mr E. Welch was asked by Mr Wyeth to present several trophies, which had been previously won. Mr Welch, in a few complimentary remarks, presented to Mr Nicholson Mr McLeod's first prize won at the last monthly match, and to Miss M. Campbell the second prize, to Mr D. McKenzie the second prize in the championship, and to Mr E. Petersen Mr J. C. Ewington's trophy. Mr Welch stated that he intended to donate a trophy for competition among the ladies, and was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his generosity.
