A CHARGE OF MURDER.
By Telegraph—Prsss Association. SUVA, September 17. Arthur Roy Ashton, charged with the murder in New Hebrides of a native, was acquitted. Accused while superintendent of an estate discovered one of his labourers stealing pineapples. The labourer became impertinent, and Ashton struck him with a whip. The native seized .the whip, and Delaboured Ashton in an unmerciful fashion. Ashton to save himself drew a revolver, and shot his antagonist in the leg. This infuriated the labourer, and Ashton to save his own life shot the labourer dead, the bullet going through the heart.
