MASTERTON HOSPITAL TRUSTEES.

MONTHLY MEETING

The monthly meeting of the Mas- j terton Hospital Trustees was held, j yesterday morning, there being pre- | sent—Messrs J. B. Keith (chairman, I W. Harris, W. Fisher, M. Jackson, and J. C. Ewjngton. An apology for j § absence was received from Mr A. W. J Hogg, M.H.R. | The Treasurer reported as follows: i —Balance at. last meeting, £l7O 16s 7d- receipts for the month, £2,122 I lis sd; expenditure, £2,241 16s 7d; j balance at date, £sl lis sd. . A letter was received from Dr. A. | Hosking in connection with the j of diphtheria at Kuripuni. I that the reason why the j ohild was taken from the Hospital j was because the mother brought a cab i and removed the body despite the' warnings of the Matron not to touch i the child, and expostulations as to | the probable infectious nature of the ; disease- The proper precautiors had, however, been taken regarding J di&infection, and no harm has fol- j lowed to any of the patients in the ; Hospital. The Trustees decided to j draw the attention of one of the j honorary surgeons to the regulations •: forbidding such cases to be sent to ! the Hospital, and to forward the cor- j respondence on the matter to the Dis-1 trict Hospital Board, pointing out that in the new Infectious Diseases j Hospital there was no provision for t treating a case of diphtheria when J tnere are scarlet fever patients in j each ward.

The resignation of Nurse Kilgour was accepted. Mr D. Pobson, Borough Engineer, forwarded plans for the drainage of the new Hospital. It was resolved to forward the plans to the Health Department for approval and to proceed with the work as soon as the plans were approved of. Accounts amounting to £l6l 2s lid were passed for payment. Mr Ewington was appointed visiting member for the month.
