STOCK MARKET.
Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on their Masterton stock sale, held yesterday, as follows: Owing to the rough weather stock did not come forward up to advertised numbers. We, however, yarded,over 5,000 sheep, and although business at auction was not brisk still we effected a total clearance with the exception of one small lot of ewes. Entries in cattle consisted principally of beef cows and heifers. For all good quality sorts competition was keen, but backward sorts were hard to quit. We quote—Sheep: Fat ewes (best) 23s Id. others 18s 5d to 20s Id, fat and forward ewes 16s 6d to 17s 3d, empty ewes lis to 14s 6d, two-tooth ewes 15s Id to 20s, best ewes in lamb 19s 7d, others 13s lid to 16s 9d, hoggets (best) 17s 3d, for a line of 1,800 we made 16s 6d, others 16s down to 13s, poorer sorts 10s to lis. Cattlrs: Best fat cows £7 16s, other fat cows £5 15s to £7 10s, fat and forward cows £4 to £4 17s 6d, springing heifers £4 4s to £5 ss, fat and forward bullocks £7 Bs. ■IVC jgs: Weaners 10s 6d.
