MR JOHN HAY. By Telegraph—Press Association. INVERCARGILL, August 1. ■Mr John Hay, Southland Commissioner of Crown Lands, died to night. He had been Commissioner for six years, and had previously done a vast amount of sun v work in Southland. The decease.], who was highly respected by sll who knew him, was born on May 9th, 1848, and joined the service on May sth, 1867. He was appointed Chief Surveyor fcr Otago about 1897, and followed Mr Barron here.
