THE DRY SEASON.
BAD OUTLOOK. By Telegraph—Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, August 1. Owing to to unusually dry weather, and no subsoil moisture,' feed is very scarce, and stock are likely to fare badly unless the spring growth comes early. Heavy continuous rains are necessary, but these may prove disastrous to young lambs, though they would be the salvation of stock generally. No autumn sowing has been done, and now ploughing is almost impossible. In the absence of subsoil moisture the chances are that unless frequent rains occur there will be a disastrous drought throughout the province. To-day there is bright sunshine.
