TRANSVAAL.
EXPENDITURE ON FOREIGN LABOUR. Received August 1, 8.15 a.m. PRETORIA, July 31. The Assembly is discussing the question of the expenditure en foreign labour. Mr De Villiers, Attorney-General, remarked that they must provide for the administration of the affairs of those Chinamen whose contracts did not expire within the year. Sir George Farrar congratulated the Government on its determination that the Perim coolies should finish the periods of indentures, despite letters patent. MINERAL OUTPUT. Received August 2, 12.23 a.m. PRETORIA, August 1. The mineral output of the Transvaal for the-year ended June totalled £30,730,000, including gold £26,648,000, and diamonds £2,147,000.
