STOCK MARKET.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report as follows:—At Pahiatua, on Tuesday, we had a full yarding in sheep, all classes excepting fats being represented. Little business was done under the hammer, but most lines changed hands before the close of the day. Very few cattle offered, and those yarded were mostly cows, these meeting with a dull sale. At Masterton on Wednesday we had a fair average yai'ding in sheep, including some extra quality ewes. Only second rate fats were offering, bidding under the hammer was rather slow, .and the bulk of business had to be done by private treaty, wuh the result that two lines only failed to find purchasers. In be. i we submitted some nice quality cows and heifers, these selling freely, but half finished lots were'hard to place. Store cattle showed little improvement in price. At Pahiatua on Tuesday best ewes in lamb made 17s 6d, others 14s and 12s, empty ewes lis, good store wethers 17s 6d, medium hoggets lis 6d, dairy cows'close to profit 60s to 90s, heifers 30s to 40s, old cows from 20s. At Masterton on Wednesday really good young ewes in lamb went up to 225, good sound full mouthed ewes 16s 6d, medium and ordinary lis 2d to 14s, light fat ewes 14s 6d to 16s 6d, hoggets 13s to 14s, prime beef (cows and heifers) £6 10s, medium £4 to £4 ss, light heifers £3 15s to £4, draught gelding £32 10s, hacks £6 lis.
