LONDON MARKETS.
♦ LONDON July 26. Wheat—The Director of Government Farms, Canada, estimates the wheat yield for Manitoba and the North-west at two-hirds to threefourths of a full crop. Warm weather has quietened the wheat markets and slightly lowered values, although it is certain the harvest will be late in Britain, France and Germany, and crops in all European countries except Russia unequal to that of 1906. Cargoes were quiet until today, when four cargoes were disposed of at 34s to 34s 6d per quarter. Flour is dull. Buyers are inactive, anticipating lower prices. Australian June-July shipments are offering at Glasgow at 26s 9d. Butter is slow of sale. Colonial unchanged; Danish Ills to 112s. Cheese is firm. New Zealand 60s to 61s, new Canadian 56s to 58s. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Wellington, have received the following cables from their London house, under date of the 26th instant:— Frozen meat —Since our telegram of the 18th instant prices for New Zealand frozen lamb are at par to Jd per lb lower. Mutton, prices are firm. Beef, the market is a shade easier. Butter—The Copenhagen official quotation is higher by 3 kroner (about 3s 4d) per cwt. Our market is steady without change in prices. The total imports of butter into the United Kingdom for the week ending 20th I instant amounted to 79,000 cwt. as compared with 89,000 cwt. for the corresponding week of last year. Tallow—Prices for mutton tallow in general are at par to 3d per cwt. higher. Other descriptions unchanged.
