OBITUARY.
MRS A. T. THOMPSON. Widespread regret will be felt in Masterton and the surrounding district at the death of Mrs Thompson, wife of. the Rev. A. T. Thompson, who passed away at Knox Manse, late yesterday afternoon, after a serious illness extending over eight weeks. The complaint from which Mrs Thompson suffered, was an internal one, and very little hope was held out for her recovery from the outset. The deceased leaves a husband and an infant child. Mr Thompson will have the sympathy of a large circle of friends in his bereavement. The late Mrs Thompson, who was 28 years of age, was born in Christchurcb, and was the eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Kemp, of Carrington Road, New Plymouth. She was married about two years and six months ago, and after residing in Thames for some time, came to Masterton wii:h her husband, twelve months ago tnis week. The services at Knox Church, last evening, were conducted by Mr J. Reith, of Wellington, and were appropriate to the occasion. Mr Reith did not make a definite announcement of the sad occurrence, but the congregation became acquainted with the fact when the preacher, at the commencement of the services, offered special prayers for the deceased lady. In his sermon Mr Reith also made feeling reference to the sad loss which the congregation generally had suffered. Appropriate anthems were rendered, and the tone of the services were in keeping with the occasion.
