COSTUME FOOTBALL MATCH.
CABDRIVERS v. CARRIERS. A meeting of cabdrivers and carriers was held in the Club Hotel, last evening, to make further arrangements for the costume football match io £be pla\el on July 18th, Jn aid of Mr J. K. Biinkhorne. Mr W. Iggulden was in the chair. It was decided that the match should take place on the Showgrounds, the_ use of the grounds having been obtained. Arrangements were made for the match to be preceded by a fancy costume -procession, starting from Pinl.cy's Stables at 2.30 p.m. No charge will be made at the Showgrounds, but a collection will be taken. It was announced that the Misses Whitcombe and several ladies had agreed to provide afternoon tea on the ground, the proceeds to go towards the fund for which the match is being'played. The following teams were selected for the match: — Cabdrivers—T. Pinkney (captain), R. Pinhey, H. Gray, J. Wallace, A. Woodham, G. Long. -T. Hall, W. Drain, H. Scott, G. Stockdale, H. Braggins, A. Jones, J. Jones A. Miller and F. Allen. Emergencies, W. Tomlin ; W. Gillespie, R. Cresswell and J. j)ixon. Carriers — W. Iggulden, A. Young, R. Hodgin?, J. Thompson, VV. Fly, C. Carr, 11. Marsh (captain), W. La Roche, K. Mcintosh, E. Connor, 11. Wooding, G. Oliver, 13. Brodie, 11. Fruer, and W. Whittaker. Emergencies-- 11. Brasil, J. Bittle, W. White and D. Cole. Line umpires— Mr F. W. Carey (cabdrivers) and Dr. U. V. Hosking (carriers). The next meeting of the committee will be held on Tuesday, July 16th, to make final arrangements.
